A metropolis before Columbus
Cahokia Mounds, near modern Collinsville, Illinois, preserves the remains of the largest pre-Columbian city north of Mexico. Visit above all for the extraordinary archaeology and the story of a remarkable Native metropolis that flourished long before European contact.
